Yes we have and no i do not believe it is possible anymore. Home continents kinda messed that up. And the fact that there is so much hate against the vs atm, so we constantly get doubleteamed. Hopefully this will lighten up in the near future.

Yep, every empire has completely locked the world a few times.

It takes a couple of things;

1) High pop
2) The right outfits and loners in the right spots (guarding warpgates, which gets boring, which makes it so hard to pull off)

It has happened in just about every instance of warpgate/broadcast version (which has a large influence on the 'how' to make it happen).

It's just really, really, really tough to do.

I also think that it requires the enemy to completely ignore the conguering empire until it's too late. So if the NC and TR get into a great pop-locked fight on continent X, and the VS don't join in to make it a 3-way but instead conquer everything else... well... that's how the world conquering begins.

So basically
1) VS need a high pop
2) NC and TR need to stupidly ignore us until it's too late.

Was playing TR a few weeks ago and it was actually globalled that they had a cease fire with the NC on Amerish so that they could beat us. I have NEVER seen that happen on VS. Funny thing is, we still beat the crap out of both of 'em!

I remember one night when the VS locked the world. Fun stuff. I borrowed a few adv meds and took all my outfit members and went around holding tech gens forever :D
