anyone know the acceptable range for power supply output. +5v is being registered in the BIOS @ 4.48v. I am almost sure this is out of the acceptable range and this is what is causing my crashing over the past day. Any comments? Xenode = MIA for the weekend or more :(

40k outfit points and 9500 kills, I was hoping to get 3 merits this weekend and 10k kills

Can't say for sure about your system but that would be just out of tolerance on my Asus board. So it seems likely it may be causeing you grief. Asus has a nice little monitoring program called PC Probe designed to monitor and give an alarm for out of range heat, voltages and other conditions. I imagine other quality MB manufactuerers have something similar.

it is an ASUS I just didnt have PC Probe installed. I remember having voltage problems before. What you can do rei, is look in PC probe and let me know when the alarm goes off. That would actually tell me the tolerances. It should be something like +/= 1% or something such as that. If you could do that I would appreciate it.

My motherboard is an ASUS A7N8X

+/- 10% on my P4C800-E deluxe

Volcanon

+/- 10%

But I would say anything over 5% is dangerous as it causes damage to parts.

Get a new power supply and watch the amperage ratings, the wattage rating on the power supply is simply for show to sell to people who always think "more is better"

yea I know the wattage doesnt matter. I am all about efficiency. This power supply is a 430watt and I have a whole bunch of stuff plugged in.

2 light kits
2 HD's
1 DVD+RW
4 Fans
1 Thermaltake Polo CPU fan

The amp ratings on this were great. I guess its just going bad. I would get to the windows loading screen and the video would cut out. I am assuming it was trying to draw too much power and crashed. It was quite annoying. I only noticed the voltage problem while looking in the BIOS for the temp. I use to have an overheating problem. In anycase I couldnt remember what the acceptable level was. Thanks for the help from both of you.

I cant really.

Its an AMD Athlon 3200+ XP processor made after the week they started locking them. So I cant push up the multiplier. I have been looking at the speed strips, but they only unlock processors made before week 51. I do have this Tbred B core I might be able to OC.l Its just a matter or trying to.

Hah, hey, I figure if they won't take BFRs out, I'll use one a bit and abuse n00bs. They're great for camping towers.
