Everyone else get this e-mail?

Greetings Soldiers of Auraxis!

With the goal of maintaining a high level of battle between the three Empires of PlanetSide, the two North American servers, Markov and Emerald, will be merged into one server, Gemini, on May 20, 2008.

Starting today, as a part of a select group of past PlanetSide players, you will be able to log in for free until May 21, 2008.

Preserve your Legacy! After the merge, many character names will be duplicated and priority will be given to players who have logged in most recently and to those who created their names first. (See below for name change details.)

As an added bonus, special merits will be given to native Markov and Emerald players to represent your loyalty to your past server. Characters will receive their merits upon logging into Gemini for the first time after the server merger is complete.

If you haven’t played in a while come check out what’s new in PlanetSide! Experience elevated battles and more competitive play!

my semester at school just finished, so I'll be playing while it's free.

We can only hope.

Some core members of my old outfit (Vanu Rangers) all came back when they got the email. We are all absolutely hooked on the galaxy gunship and most of us are going to resub on the 21st.

hehe, well you missed the Galaxy Gunship before it was nerfed. Now that was a lot of fun! A bit over powered due to the amount of armor and armor reduction it had. Man that thing could thing really take a beating before the nerf.

For fighter/attack aircraft or transports or bombers?

For GG's Its damn near impossible to gun one because the pilot always shakes the ship or turns away early or (the most annoying) favors one side of the ship.

Its just like any other thing to gun for. I won't normally gun for someone unless I know them or I'm on a teamspeak server with them. Random pilots are usually stupid.

My outfit has found it best to assign one side of the gunship attack detail and the other side security detail. Perhaps switch off every once in a while. It's not about getting kills as an individual but as getting kills and staying alive as a whole entity that makes it effective.

But I hear you on the crappy "pick up pilot". I can't tell you how many I've had fly directly over the target area on a straight path low and slow.

My outfit likes to circle the target area at max range and slowly bite off targets while bringing the holding pattern in closer and closer. This keeps one side facing the target area and the outside is scanning for incoming air or ground threats.

When we do a special CERT night with GGs we only fill up the right side of the GG. This allows us to put more GGs in the air. Then we just circle the base with the right side of the GG facing the base. If we run into another GG we'll turn and position ourselves so that the right side is facing the threat. More GGs in the air is almost like haveing more armor for each one since there are more targets for the enemy to shoot at and also means more guns on the enemies inside the base.

I have an extremely competent gg pilot in my NC outfit named xSelstox. But, as I said, he is NC, so that sucks, lol. I am only good with that thumper type gun. The gg is a lot of fun and very destructive, but as mentioned earlier, it is only as good as its pilots!
