Just figured I'd post this just to be safe; until rahl gets a chance to delete the other thread

Don't know why this forum is all of the sudden getting hit by spam bots again. I remember when Rahl deleted hundreds of users at least a few years ago. Don't know why its starting up again.
Does vbulletin have a CAPTCHA feature? May help eliminate some of the spam. I ask this because I haven't really registered on a vbulletin forum in quite awhile so I don't remember if the registration form had CAPTCHA or not.

I find this forum s/w much more clunky to use the phpbb, but I deleted the threads.
In phpbb there is a feature where you can require a user's first three posts to be manually approved which has eliminated 99% of the spammers we had.
Plus, phpbb is free!

Rahl used phpbb for the longest time and still used it for the SOV forums for quite awhile. (not sure if he still does since I haven't visited that site in awhile)
I don't remember all the reasons but he gave a list of reasons why he was dropping phpbb. I'm pretty sure it had alot to do with bugs and quality though.
PHPBB was crap. Shitty admin tools. Shitty features. Way out of date. Upgrades were a bitch. The number of exploits was getting out of control. So, I chucked it.
PHPBB 3 is supposed to be better, but they sucked to long for me to go back. I like vBulletin much better. Upgrades are easy. Very few security problems. Admin tools are easy. Plus, I can call and get support quickly and easily. No contest.
