View Full Version : A proposal

Hey everyone, I'd like to make a proposal.
Historically we have organized ourselves along outfit lines -- we squad up in outfit platoons, we get on outfit teamspeak servers, and we work within those groups.
I'd like to suggest that we begin to organize ourselves along different lines, one that I think is a better fit with the current state of Planetside 2009.
I propose that we begin to organize ourselves along purpose lines. In other words, we get all the Vanu PS players to group up based on how they want to play. This post is directed at people who want to play a tactical game of Planetside.
To start, I think we should all join one specific platoon. A platoon filled with like-minded players who play to "win". These are the people that want to hold our home continents, defend the continents (and benefits) we own, and aggressively advance by work as a team on one target.
We should come up with a standard squad listing name, such as Vanu Tactical Platoon, that we all use to list our squads. When we log on we join existing Vanu Tactical Platoon squads and platoon up more as needed. (I don't care what we call it as long as we call it the same thing and use a single squad favorite listing.)
The second portion is for us all to get in one TS channel, or channel family. (This is a "nice to have" but not necessarily a "must have" though I think it makes us a lot more effective.) The teamspeak.commandrank5.com server seems like the natural place for this.
If we get consensus on this I think it's an "easy" way to get us all working as a team. We're not asking people to change their outfit tags, we're asking them to change how they group up in game.
I think there's a lot we could build on with this sort of structure. What do you think?

Excellent proposal Frankco
I think with a little work from everyone, a group of outfits can work together and have a lot of fun... Each outfit would keep their identity, doing what they are familiar with most... ( gal gunships, mag conveys, or gal drops )
Tactically we would be able to get more things done, and its a lot of fun playing together as a team when your getting goals accomplished...

I think this is a great idea, I'm up for anything that will get groups of willing people to play together.
being able to talk to each other on teamspeak is nice too

This is no difference then outfit alliances. Same idea just different words.
I say this because most players play the game with their outfits because they enjoy their outfits. Their outfits play a certain style in game, some play to 'Win Globally' and some don't. These platoons will be made up of outfit members from the outfits that play to 'Win Globally' therefore its an informal alliance of outfits that play to 'Win Globally'. Outfits that are still established in game are better off staying and playing with their outfit. VS players that are in an un-established outfits(outfits that have few members and fallen apart over the years) are more recommended for this. What will eventually happen is outfits will spawn from these platoons or alliances between small outfits(example TACO) because the same members that platoon with each other in these Tactical Platoons will over and over because they enjoy playing together.
Meaning that its worth a try if you want but I don't see it working because of the following:
1. If they aren't in an outfit with voice what makes you think they will join cr5 TS?
2. If they are not in an outfit its because they want to play where and how they want how are you going to keep this platoon together and not on 2 different conts spread across 6 different bases.
3. Establish outfits will continue to play with each other and stay away from this to ensure their strength and survival as an outfit in the present state of Planetside.
Same arguments will happen on TS that happen in command chat and not to mention who is going to be in charge of Teamspeak edict on that server when you manage to get a bunch of players on? Who is going to be the dictator? Who is in charge? How will decisions work? How will orders be given to squads? Is it one platoon per channel? 1 squad per channel? When are you allowed to bring up these squads or platoons? When do you kick members from your squad? When are they kicked from Teamspeak? Are these squads going to be run exaclty the same? If so how are they run so they are the same? How strict are these squads? How relax are these squads? Can we go further...What about cave platoons to bring together the cavers?
The details need worked out first, don't try to half ass an idea like this. More details need to be worked out to see if it is a good idea or not.

Nothing is really half assed about it
If you can't get on a teamspeak with people or join a squad with people who, for example like to run mags, or GGs, or do gal drops, and just play together then there's gotta be something wrong with you.
If you don't want to, then that's your business.
Picture it, no dictators, no orders, just good ole fashioned fun and playing with other people.

Because of my shift work, my play time bounces around alot... But its also given me the chance to play with many different outfits, Azure Twilight, Gotr, Galactic Warriors, and Dark to name a few recently... Its a lot of fun seeing how different groups play the game, and you all rock when your working together...
Glad to have you on board laylos, hopefully we can play together sunday evening...

If its so simple why haven't I seen it yet?
I been in outfits with no leaders and because of strict recruiting it works really nicely, I've been in outfits with leaders but no strict recruitment and it works really nicely. I've never been in a outfit with no leaders or strict recruitment because it doesn't work. This goes along the same lines, so let me know how it works out. It could be great but I got my doubts.

I think are are trying to over-complicate a simple idea. You are basically gathering little clumps of many people doing the same thing and putting them all together to be more effective. There isn't enough players to do all the governing that you are talking about, Laylos

While many of you may not have liked this suggestion, I would like to reiterate an invitation to all of you to join us in squad and on teamspeak.commandrank5.com. We have a number of CR5s joining us in our Ops -- some keeping their outfit tags and some jumping in and joining AT.
If you really want to make a difference -- and play "old style" PS -- we're doing it on a nightly basis and we'd be happy to have you join us.
PS is what we make of it. Why not make the most of it?

Not what was really proposed
I haven't seen the Tactical Vanu Platoon squads...I've seen outfit squads.
So is basically these Tactical Vanu Platoons then are AT squads lead by AT?
If it is then there is nothing wrong with it but it covers the issue of who is leading these platoons. Which I brought up and you guys condemned.
This is more a long the lines of outfit merging or coordination..."some keeping their outfit tags and some jumping in and joining AT". I am not saying anything is wrong with it, just saying call it what it is. I think you'll find somewhere inside the cr5 area where I suggested best way for VS to "Win" is for smaller dying outfits should merge into outfits and other outfits not dying coordinate and work together.
Its not overall effective yet considering we spend all last weekend on our home continents because no one re-secured home at one point or another which is the "play to win" ideas are founded on.

It's about the vanu winning by getting groups of people together to effectively beat back the NC and TR. That's what we're doing. You are welcome to join us.

Right man.
I am saying, all you had to say was this:
"Well this proposal isn't working or feasible, everyone in AT is more then welcome to have you squad with us and in TS with us so we can attack NC and TR with a greater organized force. Some have been doing this already and been having such an enjoyable time they actually decided to join the outfit. We are not looking to recruit anyone but just give you opportunity to further enjoy the game. Other outfits are also more then welcome to work with us in game via tells or command chat."
Something like that then claim that the original proposal and whats going on is the same.
